Supplier Training

 

Supplier training sessions are intended to increase capacity in the local marketplace by helping Afghan enterprises understand and adopt procurement procedures and requirements that are necessary to do business with international buyers. Each training session covers an introduction to international procurement and a section tailored to a key buyer operating in the Afghan marketplace. 

 

Training At-a-Glance

 

Introduction to International Procurement (covered in each training session)

 

Focus:  Procurement processes and methods, specification requirements, information on the contract, business ethics, confidentiality agreements, types of tenders.

 

1.     International Procurement Procedures. Held monthly in Kabul and Helmand. 

 

Content:  Business practices, types of contracts, bidder instructions and pre-award, criteria for the contract award, contract termination, payment methods, and common bidder mistakes. Also includes a practical training session on filling in key documents, invoicing, delivery procedures, technical capacity, past performance, claims and protests, debriefing.

Focus on US Military, including how to fill in 1449, 1442, DBA, 30 and EFT forms. 

Focus on NATO procurement procedures, their evaluation method, usage for equipment in a NATO contract.

2.     United Nations Procurement Training. Held quarterly in Kabul subject to demand.

 

Content:  Request for quotations and bidding, invitation to bid, technical proposal content, lowest offer not acceptable, vendor sourcing, declaration forms, mistakes commonly made by bidders, frequently asked questions.
